Sitting and watching together

We don't have the wonderful American concept of sitting on your porch and watching the world go by here in the UK, but it was interesting to see something of the kind happening in front gardens in Bath recently.

Memories of Spring...

Winter's drawing in here in the UK, but here's a photograph of a sunny bench taken in the East Goshen Park in West Chester, Pennsylvania and kindly sent to me several months ago by D M Eppley. I've put it up now to remind me that it won't be long before I can go benchsitting in comfort once more...

MOST WELCOME BENCHES IN THE WORLD?

They may not look like very much but these are the benches right by the official lodge at the foot of Kilimanjaro where you wait to get your certificate to show that you have successfully climbed the mountain! I was luckily not to find a collapsed walker on them as well.

Surrealist chair/bench

Doesn't it just look as if it's going to wrap those arms around you when you sit down?!

THE NOT-BENCH BENCH

I don't think this sculpture by Peter Randall-Page is supposed to be a bench, but you could see from where it has got shiny that many many people have been sitting on it. How could you resist it?

My friend Alice sends me these two lovely benches from Maine, America.

The first is from the Thuya Gardens...

And the second from Rockefeller Garden...
